Text Box: Pre-K: We are having a great time. This month we will be learning about Community Workers, Thanksgiving, and Nutrition. We will also be learning the letters I, J, K,  & L.  Please remember to check your child’s folder daily.          Remember to send forms such as field trip permission forms back in a timely manner. This month we will be going on a field trip to the fire station.  More information will come home soon!  We will also be doing some fun Thanksgiving activities.  Keep a look out for these to start coming home.  Your child should still be wearing his/her nametag until you get a note from the teacher stating otherwise.  Please practice information such as school name, grade, and bus symbol and number with your child. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving Holiday!!
K: The Kindergarten students have been busier than bees in their classrooms.  They are doing so well with identifying their letters and sounds, learning new sight words, learning about patterns, writing their letters, numbers and counting.  We want your children to be successful so we are asking you all to continue to help your child at home by practicing reading with their little books each night, flashing sight words, letters and sounds.  The Kindergarten teachers would like to let the parents know that the cold weather is approaching so we would like you to label all of your child’s jackets, hats, sweaters, etc.  We would also like to remind the parents to place all money that is sent to school in an envelope labeled with your child’s name.  This includes snack money for recess.  As we enter the 2nd nine weeks, we would like to thank you for your continued support.  We look forward to seeing your child grow even more this nine weeks with your help!
1st: First grade had a great time on their field trip to the Pumpkin Patch and park. We are working hard on AR and Math Facts in a Flash. We are also learning a lot about nouns (regular, irregular, plural, and proper). In math, we are focusing on addition and subtraction. Great job first graders- keep it up!
2nd: We have been busy learning many interesting facts in science classes. Mrs. Picou’s class dissected owl pellets while studying food chains. Mrs. Pitre’s class constructed habitats out of paper plates. Ms. Kraemer’s class constructed habitats while working on group projects. They also researched different habitats. Mrs. Nunnally’s and Ms. Jackson’s classes created diorama habitats and wrote a paragraph about their habitat.

3rd: On Thursday October 15th, Acadian’s 3rd Graders went on a field trip to The United Methodist Pumpkin Patch in Thibodaux.  Our very own Skylar Cressoine writes, “Today was great!  It was very fun.  My mom came!  I picked a small pumpkin.  My pumpkin has a whole bunch of seeds.”  The pumpkins will allow us to complete various activities involving all of our core      subjects.  We are also proud to say that we have met our AR and AM goals for the 1st Nine Weeks, and we will keep reaching higher.

4th:Fourth graders are working hard reaching their weekly reading and math goals on the accelerated    computer programs. Parents, please make sure that your child is studying for tests and doing their homework every night. As you know, in fourth grade it is their                responsibility to pack their school bags with everything that they need to work with at home.

Tutoring for LEAP remediation will start on Oct. 28 for the students receiving a letter from the office. LEAP  practice work for all students will continue to be reviewed in their regular classes prior to the test. The LEAP test will be given in the spring.
