Pre-K: We are back, and ready to work! We have a lot of things to do this month. We will be learning about the letters Oo, Pp, Qq, and Rr. We will also be learning about the themes Winter and Weather, Nursery Rhymes, and Transportation. The school will be having a Magic Show for all the children with good conduct. Please check your child’s folder daily and reinforce good conduct. We are looking forward to meeting with you on Parent/Teacher Conference day. Please keep a look out for appointment letters to come home. Please make every effort to attend your child’s conference. 2nd:
The second grade students have been
working hard to reach their A R goals for the 2nd 9 weeks.
Also, the students have been doing their best to follow all CLAWS
expectations.
Mrs. Megan’s class has been super busy and enjoying making
Christmas–themed projects leading up to the holidays.
Mrs. Walker’s class examined tap dancing and toe shoes while reading ‘The
Alvin Ailey Kids: Dancing as a Team. Her students then
created a venn diagram comparing tap and toe dancing shoes.
Mrs.
Nunnally’s and Ms. Jackson’s classes have been busy working on gingerbread
math houses, gingerbread glyphs, estimation snowmen, and fruitloop pattern
tinsel to get ready for the holidays. The classes have written friendly
letters and persuasive paragraphs during written composition time. We are
expecting responses at any time!
Mrs. Picou / Mrs. Parisius’ class has been thinking of winter snowbird
synonyms and
antonyms.
All 2nd grade
classes went to the theater to see “The Princess and the Frog”. Students
wrote about the movie.

4th:
The fourth grade teachers were anxious
to get their students back in order to prepare them for the upcoming LEAP test
in the spring. The students will be working in class on fine tuning all of
their skills in order to pass the LEAP test. Ask your fourth grader these
basic questions: Are you ready for the test? What are your strengths in math
and reading? What are your weaknesses? How can you improve in time to pass the
test? How can I help my child to
succeed? What does my child need to know? Well it’s simple! Join

is a
computer based reading
program that your child can do from any computer that has an
Internet connection. The web address is
www.tickettoread.com
Each
child has a unique username and password that he/she knows. They may get
on this program anytime! As they read and answer questions they earn
tickets or parts. They can use their tickets to ‘buy’ items for their club
house or the parts to build toys!
