9. EXTRA WORK
Extra points may be earned against poor grades in class participation
and/or

poster (note: all
lettering done on a poster must be stenciled)
(3) projects : teacher has a box of cards containing projects;
also acceptable are
student originated projects if approved by the teacher; credit will
depend
on quality of workmanship of project and degree of difficulty
Credits earned through extra work count towards bad grades in the
following
way: ( all grading period ) one credit equals one day, with
highest
grade of “A”, for class participation; one credit per letter grade, with
highest
grade of “B”, for homework.
Deadlines will be posted for extra work. Any work handed in after posted
deadline will count on the next grading period. GRADES ON CHAPTER TEST
ARE FINAL. THEY MAY NOT BE BROUGHT UP BY EXTRA WORK!
10. HOMEWORK
ASSIGNMENTS
Homework assignments are written on the
erasable marker framed board
near the door. Assignments are also written on the clip board located on
the
front of the teacher’s desk. When a student is absent he/she should refer
to
the clip board to find out what assignments have been missed and make
arrangements with the teacher to make up any work missed. It is not the
teachers responsibility to inform students of any work missed. It is the
students responsibility to makeup any work missed within three

of returning from an illness. Any work not made up within the three (3)
day
period will carry a penalty of “F” on any work missed.

rules. These daily grades are averaged weekly. Then the weekly grades are
averaged to arrive at the report card grade. There are three (3)
exceptions to
the daily grading. (1) A student will receive a grade of “F” for
the week if he/she
is sent to the office. (2) SLEEPING IN CLASS When a student puts
their head

which
is considered to be important to maintaining good health.
D. SOURCE: Answers to questions can be obtained from: encyclopedia,
newspaper, books, Internet, TV, interview, etc. (note: recommended
internet
websites www.cybervitamins.com or onhealth.webmd.com may be
used to
find info.)
E. VALUE: Each Monday’s answers count as one homework grade.

should contain the following: 1) teacher typed handout notes for each chapter
covered from the beginning of the semester; 2) all test from the beginning of
the
semester; 3) all notes taken by student since the beginning of the semester;
4) any handouts that the students were told to keep in their notebooks. The
notebook is also graded for organization and neatness. Recommended, but not
required, organization: 1) all notes, test and handouts in chapter order, or
2) all test together, all notes together, all handouts together, etc. This check
counts as 1/2 of a chapter test grade with the other 1/2 coming from the
question
of the day.
14. Question of the
day log
At the beginning
of each class, as the student enters the room, he/she is required
to get books, pen and paper out and
answer the question provided by the teacher
for that day. The logs will be picked up every Friday. If a student is
absent he/she
should check the list of questions on the teachers desk and answer the
question
by Friday. Any days left blank or not completed will lower the grade for
that
week by one letter grade for each day left blank. At the end of the
grading period
the weekly grades are averaged and added to the notebook check to count
as a
chapter test grade.
