ART I ($40 fee)
This is a beginning level
art course designed to introduce students to the
elements of art: line, shape, value, color and
the principles of design: balance, rhythm,
movement, variety, pattern, unity, and harmony.
Students will be introduced to terminology
associated with the elements of art and their
applications in creating artwork. Students will
also be introduced to different art mediums such
as pencil, charcoal, pencil color, pastel
chalks, and scratchboard.
ART II (Prerequisite Art
I) ($40 fee)
This is an intermediate
level art course designed to review and build on
the student’s knowledge of the elements of art:
line, shape, form, texture, space, value, color
and the principles of design: balance, rhythm,
movement, variety, pattern, unity, and harmony.
Students will be introduced to terminology
associated with the elements of art and their
applications in creating artwork. Students will
also be introduced to different art mediums such
as ink wash, watercolors, tempra paint, acrylic
paint, oil paint techniques, pen and ink
techniques and other various wet mediums.
ART III (Prerequisite Art
I) ($40 fee)
This is an intermediate
level art course designed to review and build on
the student’s knowledge of the elements or art:
line, shape, form, texture, space, value, color,
and the principles of design: balance, rhythm,
movement, variety, pattern, unity, and harmony.
Students will be introduced to terminology
associated with the elements of art and their
applications in creating artwork. Students will
also be introduced to different art mediums such
as additive and subtractive sculpture, mosaic,
montage, mobiles, ceramics, and other three
dimensional art forms.
ART IV (Prerequisite Art
I) ($40 fee)
This is an advanced level
art class designed for students who have
completed Art I, II, and III. This class is
designed as an independent study where students
will concentrate on a single medium or a single-
subject subject matter. Students will have to
complete and submit a set number of projects
each grading period. Students will be given
criteria based on the subject matter and medium
of their choice. This class will also
incorporate independent research by the student
on their medium or subject matter.
FINE ARTS SURVEY (MUST BE
A JUNIOR OR SENIOR)
This course focuses on art
and music appreciation, theory, and practice.
Drama, musical theater, and cinema are explored.
An appreciation of art through the ages and the
development of music will be emphasized.
