Graduate Exit Exam (GEE)


WHAT IS THE GEE?

 

The Graduate Exit Examination for the 21st Century also known as GEE 21 is administered to Grade 10 students in English language arts and math, as well as grade 11 students in science and social studies. Students are required to clear the GEE tests to receive a high school diploma.  
Phase 1 Testing - March 23, 2010 
GEE: Writing/Math/Science/Social Studies Constructed Response

Phase 2 Testing - April 12-16, 2010

Exam Details

  • 10th graders who have passed on or after 2001-2002 need to achieve at least the approaching basic achievement rankings or above on all the English Language Arts and Mathematics tests as well as in Science or Social Studies test if students are eligible for it. 

Achievement Rankings
Students who have appeared for the GEE no longer receive their results as scores but as achievement rankings.

  • Advanced:  If the student has done exceptionally well and has shown superior performance beyond the level of mastery.
  • Mastery: This level shows that the student has shown competency skills over challenging subject matters and is now prepared for the next level of education.
  • Basic: This level only shows that the student has fundamental skills and knowledge needed for the next level of education,
  • Approaching Basic: At this level the student has shown partial knowledge and skills to go to the next level of education.
